SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2016
Working with the local doctors in Cusco, Peru
Unconventional Volunteering is offering 2 scholarships for General Practitioners to spend two weeks working with medical practitioners in a medical clinic in Cusco, Peru.
The scholarship includes return economy class airfares to Cusco, Peru; transfers, accommodation and meals in a home-stay, hosted by a local family. There is also the opportunity to learn some Spanish.
Volunteers will be placed in a clinic which best suits the volunteers’ area of expertise. Volunteers will be accompanied by a translator and working alongside local doctors to assist and possibly teach new techniques.
The Scholarship program coincides with the Unconventional Conventions South America Highlights tour of Peru, where the volunteers will speak to the group about their experiences living and working in the local community. The Scholarship winners will also be required to write an article about their experience to encourage others to get involved.
Scholarship Application Criteria:
- Have been in practice for at least ten years
- Have current registration with the AHPRA
- Provide an up-to-date resume, showing evidence of your special interests as a practising GP
