ABOUT ULURU HEALTH CARE CENTRE
The clinic was opened in 1998 as the initial project of the East West Foundation, an Australian volunteer driven organisation, founded by Dr Natteri V Chandran, a Melbourne psychiatrist, who with his wife Chitra, a paediatrician, have been frequent delegates at Unconventional Conventions conferences.
The clinic and its outreach programs provide essential medical care for acute and chronic conditions for the local community of approximately 40,000 people.
The clinic is currently staffed by a local graduate doctor originally from Pondicherry, Dr S Premnath, with expert back up assistance from a long serving chief nurse and two senior nurses, a pharmacist and social workers. Other much - needed help is provided by international volunteers.
The local villagers are very appreciative of whatever medical service can be afforded them but in particular the community is in desperate need of female medical practitioners.
